So Advent is upon us! I am thankful for this season of prayer and preparation.
One of my resolutions for these next coming weeks is this,
"Where there is no love, put love, and you will draw love out." – St. John of the Cross
Putting love where there isn't. That's exactly what God does. That's exactly what He did. God put love into the world by giving us Jesus. And we are called to do the same! We are to put Jesus in places where there isn't love. Anywhere that is suffering, depressed or broken needs love and needs Jesus.
We do not know the extent of the effect of one smile, one hug, one wave, one dollar or one hello. But we will some day.
Advent reminds us to slow down, to be present in the moment and to remember that we are called to love. Jesus is going to visit you this Advent. He will be in disguise as the suffering, the hungry, the sick, the lonely and the stranger. Will you be ready to love Him?
"‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’" - Jesus (Matthew 25:40)
May our hearts be open to God's love that we may see with His eyes where there isn't love, put love, and draw love out. Mother Mary, guide us on this journey to the glorious night of the birth of the King of Kings.
